Community Service Recognition
The benefits of a community service experience for high school students are well-known and include not only significant contributions to the community, but personal growth rewards that cannot be achieved in other ways. Irvine High School recognizes students who voluntarily engage in at least 25 hours of community service in any given year, prior to graduation. Recognition is given as an entry on the student’s transcript for each year that community service is completed. NO CREDIT IS ISSUED by Irvine High School for performing community service.
Guidelines and Definitions:
-A cumulative total of 25 hours for any given year, which begins each summer and continues through fall and spring of the subsequent school year, is required before the form is accepted. School years CANNOT be combined.
-The number of hours served IS NOT recorded on the student’s transcript.
-Click to View and Print Community Service Form
-Submit the completed Community Service form as soon as 25 hours are served. Please be sure that all areas of the form are completed and legible. Recognition will be posted on the transcript as soon as possible, upon receipt.
-Forms MUST be submitted NO LATER THAN JUNE 7, 2013 for those students who wish to have the recognition entered on their transcript prior to the end of the school year. No forms will be accepted after June 30th.
-Community Service forms will NOT be accepted for prior school years.
-Completed Community Service forms are NOT returned to students. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO MAINTAIN HIS/HER PERSONAL RECORD OF COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Please note: Community Service (volunteer work) is NOT the same as Work/Community Experience, which is available to Seniors only, for paid employment.
- Students must keep a copy for their completed form for their personal records.
Please note that participation in community service is VOLUNTARY and NOT REQUIRED as part of the regular school program. Participation in community service is NOT a district-sponsored activity and the Irvine Unified School District assumes no liability.
